Tom Braun:

Tom Braun

Thomas Braun is a professor of biostatistics at the U-M School of Public Health.  He has collaborated in the design and analysis of numerous clinical trials with investigators at the U-M schools of medicine, nursing, and dentistry. He has been an instructor for workshops sponsored by groups such as the American Association of Clinical Oncology and the Osteology Foundation, with a focus on the incorporation of statistical thinking in the training of medical professionals.  Dr. Braun is committed to interdisciplinary approaches for conveying the importance of statistical and numerical reasoning to clinical trials and the central role that statistics can play in the implementation of human health policy in the US and internationally.  He has taught at the U-M School of Public Health for 20 years and is continually seeking new approaches to making numerical reasoning approachable and relevant to all graduate students.

Laura Power:

Laura Power

After completing the Preventive Medicine Residency and MPH degree at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Laura Power joined the faculty at the schools of public health and medicine. Now the associate program director for the Preventive Medicine Residency, she is a board-certified preventive medicine and infectious diseases physician and spends time teaching public health students, training preventive medicine residents, and caring for patients. She is looking forward to the IPL fellowship program in order to strengthen her abilities in bringing different health professionals together. She completed medical school, internal medicine residency, and chief residency at Wayne State University, followed by an infectious diseases fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She practiced infectious diseases at Henry Ford Health System, where shalso served as the medical director for infection prevention.
