The Michigan Center for Interprofessional Education was originally established in 2015 with a five-year, $3 million grant from the provost’s Transforming Learning for the Third Century Initiative, which was matched with an additional $3 million from the deans of the seven health science schools on the Ann Arbor Campus: School of Dentistry, School of Kinesiology, Medical School, School of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, School of Public Health and School of Social Work. During this time, three additional health science schools began to participate in the Center: The College of Health Sciences and the School of Nursing from Flint, and the College of Education, Health & Human Services from Dearborn. In 2020, the support was extended for an additional year due to the urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, the University of Michigan Office of the Provost and health science deans across all three campuses reaffirmed their support of the Center for IPE with an additional five-year commitment to the “Next Phase” through 2026. Read more about the Next Phase here.
